Artists and arts workers in the Gympie region are invited to book a free, in-person meeting with a RASN Regional Arts Advisor during the Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival. Advisors Shannon Garson (Craft and Design), Robyn Fernandez (Visual Arts) and Alex Henriksson (Music) will be available to offer tailored support in their artistic disciplines, or assist with general queries pertaining to regional artists including funding, career development and more.

KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE: PRACTICAL MARKETING FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS
This practical workshop invites creatives and arts workers to think beyond demographics and explore the motivations, values and behaviours that shape arts participation.
Using current audience research and tools including Creative Australia’s audience insights and Culture Segments, we’ll explore how to identify potential audiences, understand what might motivate – or prevent – them from attending, and translate those insights into stronger marketing.
Through practical exercises, participants will workshop copy, imagery and other marketing assets, exploring how small changes can make your work more relevant and meaningful to the audiences you want to reach. There will be two workshops held in person in Ipswich and Nambour, as follows:

EMERGING DANCE EXCHANGE
RASN in collaboration with Ausdance Queensland is hosting the Emerging Dance Exchange – a free artist development program for regional Queensland dance artists. The program combines professional development, practical learning, sector exchange, resources and tailored mentoring to support you in building a professional, independent or portfolio career in dance. If you’re a regional Queensland dance artist and would like to be part of the program, we’d love to hear from you. Complete our Expression of Interest to apply.

MORE THAN THE APPLAUSE – MAKING IT AS A PERFORMER
What does a real pathway look like for performing artists or companies today? With education options shrinking, funding tightening, and the cost of creating rising, it’s never been more important to understand the opportunities that do exist and how to access them.
This energising session, facilitated by Tim Wynn, Artistic Director of THAT Production Company, cuts through the uncertainty and focuses on practical, tangible steps artists can take right now. We’ll acknowledge the challenges, share honest insights, and open the floor for questions so participants can walk away with a clearer sense of direction for themselves or their next project.
The workshop is supported by a panel of RASN Regional Arts Advisors Cassandra Ramsay (Theatre) and Alex Henriksson (Music). They will join online to share their mentorship approach as they develop supportive, strategic, and tailored plans to advance your creative goals. If you’re ready to map your next move in the performing arts, this workshop will help you see what’s possible and how to get there.
This workshop is part of Ipswich City Council’s Creative Industries development program ARTiculate. Attendees are to be residents of Ipswich Local Government Area.

Through real-world examples, you’ll discover what budgets reveal about your work, and how financial storytelling can strengthen grant applications, partnerships, and project planning.
Perfect for independent artists, producers and theatre makers with some experience in budgets and funding, as well as arts workers and volunteer grant assessors.
